Now that signing day has past it is probably going to be pretty slow going for a while in regards to whats happening with Cornhusker Football. As always you can expect to find all pertinent football news here daily.

Legend tossed first pitch – Article on Tom Osborne’s recruitment of Micah Kreikemeier.

One good show for Bo – Coach Pelini was the honorary wrestling coach for the NU/OU match. Pelini is so awesome his presence resulted in a 21-9 win for the Huskers. My only question, what is Coach Manning doing in that picture?

Bo on the go – This quote from Tom Osborne says a lot about our coaches, both football and basketball: “It isn’t anything I’ve asked them to do. They operate as they see fit.”

Safety Wald joins NU recruiting class – If you watch Mason Wald’s recruiting video and don’t get excited seeing the way he tackles then you don’t have a pulse. This kid punishes people with the ball. Check out his video here.

Crazy months for Gilmore – I am sure everyone is glad this crazy recruiting season is over. This includes coaches, players and fans.

Pelini, Huskers ignore hype – Pelini just seems to get it. I approve highly of how he chooses to conduct business.

Baker is next in line at Nebraska – Another good article on the Steinkuhler’s. It is nice to see these players preferring to make their statements on the football field rather then flashy press conferences.

Nebraska signs 27 recruits, 18 walk-ons – A recap of signing day for the Huskers by the Sporting News.

Williams changes back to Huskers – Thank goodness he has signed on the dotted line. I am really happy to have Josh Williams as a Husker.

Buying into it – Great article on Nebraska’s walk-on program.

For Pelini, it’s all about the team – After reading this quote: “I don’t really want to get into anyone today specifically,” he said. “Like I said, we’re recruiting talent and potential. I’m proud of every recruit we have. What they become in the future, that remains to be seen.”, who wouldn’t want to play for Bo Pelini?

Pelini says Wilson’s status uncertain – Looks like Kenny Wilson will not be playing spring ball this year. Lets hope once he gets healthy he leaves moving televisions to the professionals. The article also said that Kendall Thompkins, the wide receiver recruit out of Miami, showed up to school wearing a Nebraska cap before signing a letter of intent to play for Miami.

Oklahoma, Texas post top-10 classes – ESPN gave Nebraska a B-. Not too shabby.

Rivals and Scout class Rankings – Looks like Rivals is putting NU’s class at 30 while Scout has the Huskers at 21.

Signing day recap

So a day it seems like we waited forever for has come and gone.  We now have our 2008 recruits signed so we can move on to the anticipation of the Spring Game, for which the tickets went on sale yesterday.

I would say that yesterday was a pretty decent day for the Huskers.  We didn’t have any last minute de-commits, which is always good, and we added defensive back Mason Wald out of Alabama.  Rivals shows him as committed but he has not signed yet.  I am not sure what is going on there.

It would be easy to focus on all the great recruits we had de-commit.  Kids like Blaine Gabbert, Trevor Robinson, Jonas Gray, and Simi Kuli.  With that said I think it is more important to look at what we got.  We got a bunch of kids who seem to have great character and heart.  We have a lot of kids that have been described as hardworkers and team players.  That is what we need.  Especially since I believe we have a coaching staff who can develop players, which the previous staff seemed to be unable to do.

We didn’t end up with a top 5 class or even the best class in the Big 12 North but I think we ended up with a solid class.  In three to four years I think Husker Nation will be celebrating the success of Bo Pelini’s first recruiting class.

I can’t say it any better than my fellow bloggers.  So please check out these great articles by some of the best college football bloggers around:
