The Huskers have taken some major hits on the recruiting front in the last several months. The one that is most painful is offensive lineman Trevor Robinson from Elkhorn, NE. I hate seeing a stud Nebraska boy going somewhere else but if he doesn’t want to be a Husker then it is probably a good thing.
It is a bit depressing when looking at some of the players we have lost:
Rivals 100 Players
- Jonas Gray, RB
- Blain Gabbert, QB
- Trevor Robinson, OL
Rivals JUCO Top 50
- Simi Kuli, DE
- Shaun Mohler, LB
- Adrian Hilburn, WR
It should get pretty interesting over the next month to see what Coach Pelini and his staff can pull off. I am really looking forward to seeing what we will end up with.
Offense (8)
- Ben Cotton, TE
- Ricky Henry, OL
- Tyson Hetzer, TE
- Dan Hoch, OL
- John Levorson, WR
- Collins Okafor, RB
- Baker Steinkuhler*, OL
- Brandon Thompson, OT
Defense (8)
- Quentin Toailoa, DT
- Micah Kreikemeier, OLB
- Kyler Reed, LB/TE
- Cameron Meredith, DE
- Will Compton, LB
- Keelan Johnson, S
- Sean Fisher, LB
- David Whitmore, CB
*Listed in Rivals 100.
Losing Gabbert was big but hopefully this staff can still land a QB. I would much rather have a staff that recruits and develops players then recruits five star athletes and goes 7-5. It should be interesting and a lot of fun over the next month. I hope there are some pleasant surprises on signing day.
